The Golden Rule

This world that we live in
Is so messed up
So backwards
So turned around
There is never a safe place to live

We fight each other
We abuse each other
We torment and ruin each other
We kill each other

Why do we do things
We would never want to be treated like
Much of what we do is permanent
It will never return or comeback to it's owner
Or it will comeback to us
And haunt us till we die

Why do we
Fight each other
Abuse each other
Torment and ruin each other
Kill each other

For the sake of self pride
A pride that means nothing
A pride of lies and wrongs
For strength
Strength for our egos
For what
I'm all ears

We treat our fellow brothers and sisters like scum
Ripping apart theirs souls bit by bit
While our own corrodes and melts
From the acid of our actions

Today I read the news
Just to have my day ruined by sorrow and pain
Our world is a world of pain
And no one is trying to stop it
We just carry on thinking someone else will fix it for us
While we continue
Fighting each other
Abusing each other
Tormenting and ruin each other
Killing each other

A bird one told me
That a life is only lived once
And you never want to make a moment bad
And she said " treat others the way you want to be treated, and you
will be treated the same"
I'm sure a similar bird told you too
But you did not listen then
I'm telling you now
Listen learn and do

Rid the world of man made pain
Follow the golden rule
