A Weather Related Poem by a Friend

Rising up
A wave of harm
Its crest foaming
With haunting pain
White heat and anger
Keep on rising.
Curling under
The color deepens
Dark black fury
Pushing its way
Up…
Up to your surface.
Overwhelmed
Your body trembles
An earthquake of emotion
In the depths of your sea.
Forgotten
A lone drop that falls
You catch in your hand
Your glass has chipped
Spider web cracks spin
Cutting their paths deep
In the barrier reef
Protecting your ocean,
The rushing water
Pushing through.
Speaking with your tongue tied
You force words
But your puffy eyes
Cannot lie.
A fire skims
The surface of your wave
Drowning your fears
In its angry flame.
You are way too deep
To swim.
Under your skin…
Bitter salt water
Chokes your throat
You find it difficult
Impossible
To breathe and speak
But you wouldn’t
Even if you could.
Rising up once more
A volcano spits
Spews fiery smoke
Your wave darkened
Blood red
Spinning water swallows you
A whirlwind of tasteless wrath
Flushed with rage
Continuous
Never-ending abuse
The destruction of your ocean.
And now
As the relentless wave curls
Once more in your sea
It is impossible to choke back
The bitter salt
Scraping your throat
Gorging your heart
Until it escapes
And can be held back
No longer.
