Waving goodbye to the soldiers as we cry

Moving away in the military's trucks

The military's trains

The military's boats

And the military's plans

Off to a land of hurt

Where fear may overcome their courage

Where bodies are maimed and forever scarred

Off to another land where we cannot see them

Until they come home hollowed or cold

Today is the day to memorialize these men and women

From the days of the great wars

To the ever lasting war of today

Remind these fellow citizens that we thank them

And that what they did if above all

For they saw the ultimate price be given  

By their friends 

by their comrades

Let these brave and selfless people know your thanks 

And acknowledge them this Memorial Day
